Master of Arts in Reading

Welcome to our website, and thank you for your interest in our nationally recognized M.A. program in Reading.

Now Accepting Applications

This flexible, 30-credit-hour M.A. program is designed for certified teachers and community college instructors who wish to develop expertise in reading, writing and language instruction.  Choose the six-course concentration that best meets your needs and leadership aspirations:

  1. Reading Specialist (Schaumburg - leads to Reading Specialist Endorsement)
  2. Bilingual/ESL Literacy (Online - leads to ESL/Bilingual Endorsement)
  3. Post-secondary Reading (Blended - Online and Schaumburg)

The four core courses in the program are offered in Schaumburg and are aligned with the International Reading Association's national standards for reading specialists and literacy coaches.  Concentration courses are at the campuses listed above.

The degree may be completed in as little as five semesteres.  Scholarships are available for qualified applicants.  Admitted students may start courses in any semester.
