Master of Arts in Reading
Hybrid Program: Online and Face-To-Face
Welcome to our website, and thank you for your interest in our nationally recognized M.A. program in Reading.
This flexible, 30-credit-hour M.A. program is designed for licensed teachers who wish to obtain a reading teacher or reading specialist endorsement in the State of Illinois. However, licensed teachers who are enrolled in our Bilingual/ESL program also can earn an MA in Reading by completing the four core courses in reading. Consult the graduate catalog for a description of the course and the program requirements.
Courses are offered online during the Fall and Spring semesters. During the summer semester, courses are offered face-to-face on the Schaumburg Campus. The summer courses focus on children’s literature, strategies and materials for teaching language and literacy, and the development of teaching and leadership skills through participation in an intensive, four week, reading clinic.
The degree can be completed in as little as four semesters, and teachers can enroll starting in any semester. A special tuition for graduate students enrolled in online programs applies to this program.
