Clinical Hours and Field Placement for Bilingual/ESL

Clinical hours for any course in the Bilingual/ESL sequence must be completed during the semester in which the course is offered, but can be begun and/or completed outside the 7-week span of the class meetings.

Clinical hours must be completed in bilingual or ESL K-12 settings with the exception of hours associated with EDUC 370/470: Cross-Cultural Studies for Teaching Limited English Proficient Students, which may be completed in any cross-cultural setting approved by the course instructor.

Any additional hours needed to reach the 100-hour total (beyond those associated with coursework) may be completed at any point during the sequence of six courses.

Students registered for courses requiring observation placements must submit an Observation Request Form to

PLEASE NOTE: The office of Field Placement will begin to secure placements once a form has been received. Submission of the form is mandatory for all students enrolled in courses requiring field observation hours. Observation Request Forms should be submitted immediately upon registering to ensure adequate time to secure a placement, but must be submitted no later than September 15 for a fall semester placement and January 25 for a spring semester placement. For summer placements, please submit an Observation Request Form immediately upon registering for summer courses. Verification of Hours Forms should be submitted through your Taskstream account.
