At Roosevelt's College of Education, we believe that learning is the key to unlocking a better future for all citizens - a future in which every child can access a complete, quality education. For that reason, we provide our students with the most effective, progressive education available knowing that only then can they do the same for those they will educate, lead and counsel. The following departments combine their expertise in research, education and teaching to form the College of Education: Curriculum Studies and Specialized Studies.
Firmly planted in the traditions of social justice and responsibility, Roosevelt University's College of Education prepares teachers, counselors and educational leaders to shape a better, brighter and more just tomorrow. Our graduates leave us with an understanding of what it truly means to be an educator, a leader, or a counselor within a community, including international communities.
Our responsibility for positive social change in communities does not end with our academic programs. In addition to the ongoing activist scholarship of our faculty, our Office of Community Engagement stimulates change through outreach and community partnerships. Whether through helping high school students reach their goals of higher education or a child discover a love of reading, we are privileged to be in a position to offer transformative opportunities to children, youth and their families. As we continue to grow and move forward, what remains resolute is our integrity, commitment to high standards, and steadfast pursuit of innovation and excellence.
Emily Weiss, a 2009 graduate of Roosevelt’s master’s program in secondary education, has won the 2011 PBS (Public Broadcasting System) Teacher of Merit Award.
