Prepare to transform lives as an educator, leader or counselor.

In small classes, you’ll receive personalized attention from active faculty. Beyond the classroom, you’ll obtain the practical field experiences you need to start making your mark the moment you’ve earned your degree.

Real-World Experience

Roosevelt University has a unique partnership with the Early Childhood Education Center (Bright Horizons) at the Schaumburg Campus to provide authentic learning experiences for pre-service teachers where children, families, and employees represent many different cultures and backgrounds.  Bright Horizons serves children from 6 weeks of age through kindergarten and also has programs for school-aged children.

Real-World Skills

Student teaching is the capstone of the teacher education curriculum. Each student teacher is engaged in full-time teaching responsibilities for a fifteen-week period under the guidance of a certified, experienced mentor teacher and a full-time university supervisor.  Field experience is the best way to apply classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios.

Real-World Strategies

Graduate students in the Language and Literacy program learn real-world strategies in our Summer Reading Clinic. Children from PK-9 grade attend a five-week session where graduate students learn to create a Balanced Literacy classroom and implement best practices in literacy instruction. Weekly parent workshops and individual case studies are completed by the graduate students.
