The Roosevelt University Counseling Center offers a number of comprehensive clinical services including but not limited to individual, couples and group counseling to students currently enrolled at Roosevelt University. While these services are limited to students, the Counseling Center also offers Consultation and Referral services to students, faculty, staff, alumni and parents.
Individual students can work with a counselor to explore their concerns and work toward a better understanding and resolution of their difficulties. Individual counseling sessions generally last 45-50 minutes and are usually held once a week, but can be held more or less often when appropriate.
The Counseling Center is committed to helping students work through problems they might be having in their relationships. Married and unmarried students are welcome to come, as well as students in traditional and non-traditional relationships. One member of the couple must be an enrolled student.
In group therapy, a small number of students meet weekly with one or two group therapists. Groups are often the best way for people to receive counseling services. In groups, members have the opportunity to share concerns and listen to each other; give and receive feedback; offer support to one another; express feelings, and learn more about how they interact with others.
Starting therapy: A Process
The staff at the Counseling Center understand that some may still be Considering Therapy and that it is sometimes not an easy task deciding if therapy is right for you. It is our desire to assist clients in Getting Started with their therapy and making sure they know exactly What to Expect when they come into the Center.
