In an era of rapid change, organizations must continuously develop their workforce to enhance their ability to succeed. Professionals in training and development play a key role in an organization’s success by taking a leadership role in the design, delivery, and evaluation of learning interventions. Whether you are currently working in the field or plan to in the future, the M.A. in Training and Development will develop your expertise in adult learning theory, instructional design, training delivery, organization development, evaluation, and e-learning. Classes, which are mapped to the Association for Talent Development (formerly ASTD) competencies, are taught by industry leaders who use analytical and creative approaches in a highly energizing, constructivist format. You are assured of gaining relevant knowledge and skills that transfer immediately to the workplace.

Admission

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited institution and an undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. A written statement of academic and professional goals and a current resume are required. For additional information, contact the Graduate Program in Training and Development.

Requirements

A total of 12 courses (36 credit hours) are required to complete the degree.

After completing all required, core courses and chosen electives, students are required to complete a master's portfolio. The master's portfolio allows students to demonstrate their competency through reflection and assessment of previously completed projects and provides enhanced materials for professional presentation.

A student who has not completed a thesis or other final project must maintain continued registration during subsequent semesters until completion of the project by registering for the appropriate zero-credit course (course number followed by “Y“). Students who have not maintained continuous registration for thesis or other final project will be required to register for all intervening fall and spring semesters prior to graduation.
