MAS 419 SEM IN ART SONG LITERATURE
This course will explore the art songs of Johannes Brahms, a genre that he composed across his entire career. The course will focus on the songs that have become standards in the nineteenth-century vocal canon, those that are connected to or influenced by outside works, and the association they have with many of the lesser known poets of nineteenth-century Germany and Austria.
