Micah R. Booker, MBA - Administrative Secretary

Micah joined the Career Development staff in July of 2009 as an Administrative Secretary. She completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Roosevelt University. She also worked in the College of Education for 5 ½ years and the Gear Up Trio Program for 2 years part- time at Roosevelt . Micah enjoys working with faculty, students, alumni, and staff of Roosevelt University as we all advance in higher education. She brings a great deal of knowledge about Roosevelt and expertise in a variety of software. Micah holds a BPS in Telecommunications and a MBA in Management.
Tamar Frolichstein-Appel, MEd - Career Counselor

Tamar joined the Career Development staff in September of 2006 as a career counselor. She completed a MEd in Community Counseling from Loyola University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. As part of her studies, Tamar did research on University Career Service Websites and did a practicum as a career counselor at Jewish Vocational Services in Skokie, IL. Tamar is a career changer with a more than 10 years experience in community development, public policy and social change work. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Women’s Studies and a Masters Degree in Public Policy Studies from the University of Chicago. Tamar enjoys working with the students and alumni of Roosevelt University as they advance on their own unique and meaningful career paths. Along with career counseling, she works with the staff to develop and present career development workshops and programs.

Aaron Kennedy - Student Placement Specialist

Aaron joined Roosevelt University as the Student Placement Specialist in March 2010. In his role, Aaron has collaborated with members of faculty and university administration to centralize the student employment process and establish policies and procedures to ensure students have ample resources on hand and an efficient means of finding jobs on campus. Prior to Roosevelt, Aaron worked for Chicago Youth Centers as a College Career Specialist where he was responsible for the design and implementation of a career-readiness program. Working with youth from the ages of 7-21, Aaron developed a curriculum based on the Positive Youth Development model (in which he is also certified) to enrich the lives of children heading into junior high, high school and college. Partnering with such programs as Gear-Up, he worked to prepare high school seniors for scholarships. From tutoring to computer software training, through resume critiques and mock interviews Aaron enjoys working with students and has a passion for developing programs that enable them to become successful. Aaron holds a B.A. in Communications with a minor in Psychology from DePaul University, Chicago.
Katie Mason, MA - Career Counselor

Katie Mason joined the Career Development staff in the summer of 2009. She graduated with her MA in Community Counseling from Roosevelt and has a BA in Psychology from The University of Iowa. Her experience is varied. Most recently, she worked with victims of domestic violence as a personal counselor and also provided case management services including job search and job readiness skills. Prior to graduate school she began her career as a recruiter for a staffing firm and spent four years at The Cara Program, a job training program for individuals at-risk for becoming homeless, where she developed employment partner relationships and found employment for program participants. Katie thoroughly enjoys developing relationships and working with students and alumni to help them discover their career passion.

Earning his Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis on Public Relations from Illinois State University, Chris is one of the newest members of the Career Development team. With a minor in Sociology, Chris possesses a desire for analyzing situations in hopes of improving them for those who need his help most. Most recently coming from Roosevelt University’s Office of Human Resources, he has a strong grasp on what is necessary to assist others, as well as maintaining solid processes & procedures. He also has many years in staffing, recruitment & employer relations where he has had the opportunity to meet, manage & nurture relationships with various client bases throughout his professional career, including Motorola, UPS, FedEx & Edward Don & Co.
