Freshmen New Student Orientation

Fall New Student Orientation (NSO) is Roosevelt's required 4-day orientation for all new freshmen students. During NSO we’ll cover college transition, introduce you to campus resources and provide you an opportunity to meet your entire class. You’ll get a chance to get settled at Roosevelt and we think you’ll have a great time!

New Student Orientation Details

  • Tuesday, August 19 through Friday, August 22, 2014
  • Check-in begins on August 19 at 12:30pm and the program begins at 1pm
  • Please make sure you attend a Starting Out At Roosevelt (SOAR) date prior to attending orientation.
  • The complete schedule will be released in the coming months.
  • All four days of New Student Orientation are required of all incoming first-year students.
  • Resident students will get their CTA U-Pass on Monday, August 18. More information can be found on the CTA U-Pass page.

Residential Students

First-year residential students should attend all Orientation events from Tuesday, August 19—Friday, August 22. Residence Life will contact you with your specific move-in date/time. Questions regarding move-in? Contact the Office of Residence Life: or (312) 341-2005.  

Commuter Students

First-year commuter students should attend all Orientation events on Tuesday, August 19, Wednesday, August 20, Thursday, August 21, and Friday, August 22.  We encourage you to stay for our evening social programs, but if you need to arrange to transportation, you should plan to be on campus during the following times at a minimum:

  • Tuesday, August 19 from 1:00pm—10:00pm
  • Wednesday, August 20 from 10:00am—5:00pm
  • Thursday, August 21 from 10:00am—6:00pm
  • Friday, August 22 from 10:00am—1:00pm
  • Commuter students should plan to pick up their CTA U-Pass on either Monday, August 18 or prior to the start of orientation on Tuesday, August 19. More information can be found on the CTA U-Pass page.

Spring 2015 New Student Orientation
is a required 1-day program for all new freshmen and transfer students starting in spring semester. Spring orientation will take place in January 2015.
