Greek Life

Welcome to Roosevelt University! We’re excited that you’ve chosen Roosevelt and we hope that you’ll become involved in our campus community—and a great way to get connected to campus is through membership in a fraternity or sorority! Greek life offers opportunities for leadership, academic enhancement, service and lifelong friendships.

Our Greek community is comprised of men and women who value leadership, academics, community service & philanthropy, and brother/sisterhood. Becoming a member of a fraternity or sorority will provide you with personal development opportunities, close friendships, and the opportunity to affiliate with a community dedicated to scholarship, service, leadership, and friendship. As you explore the opportunities that the Roosevelt Greek community offers, we encourage you to keep an open mind, ask questions, and look for a chapter whose values are consistent with your own.

What is Greek Life?

Greek organizations date back to the early 1800’s when college men and women felt a need for organizations that centered around values and opportunities to further their college experience. With that, literary circles were created—many of which used Greek letters for their names. Over time, these organizations grew in popularity and began to expand to campuses across the country.

Fraternities and sororities are much more than a student organization. Greek letter organizations are rooted in values to which their members must uphold. Each organization has a different set of values, however almost all value scholarship, philanthropy & service, leadership, and friendship. In addition, membership in a fraternity or sorority extends beyond your college years; joining is a lifetime commitment.
