Because of the program's reputation for excellence, students from around the world have studied theatre at CCPA/Roosevelt. The university recruits nationally, with the majority of its student body coming from out of state. In the conservatory's outstanding internship program, students receive academic credit for interning at Chicago's professional theatres. With over 100 theatre companies in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, the Wall Street Journal recently touted Chicago's theatre scene as surpassing the theatre scene in New York City.
". . . I've come to feel that the Windy City is blowing the Big Apple out of its once-secure spot at the top of America's theatrical tree." -Terry Teachout, Wall Street Journal, May 2010
