School Counseling Sequence

Clinical Professional Psychology students who are interested in working as a School Counselor can qualify for the Type 73 certificate with the Illinois State Board of Education by completing some additional requirements.  Students must be approved by the College of Education to pursue this sequence.  Please contact Dr. Kristina Peterson (kpeterson@roosevelt.edu) regarding your eligibility.  After approval, the required components of the sequence are:
 

CHS 414:   Seminar in School Counseling

CHS 415:   School Environment, Classroom Management and Consultation (online course - Spring semester)

CHS 418:   Organization and Adminstration of School Counseling Programs (Summer course)

CHS 496:   School Counseling Internship (Fall semester)

SPED 419: Exceptional Children and Youth
 

Pass the Illinois Basic Skills Test and the Contest Test for School Counseling (area 181)
