HCB Student Learning Outcomes

We, in the Walter E. Heller College of Business (HCB), believe students should know and understand the Learning Objectives of their degree program. Learning Objectives are what a student can expect to learn, know and be able to demonstrate upon completion of their degree. At Roosevelt University we refer to these as Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs). They may also be referred to as Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) or Measurable Learning Outcomes(MLOs) at other institutions.

Undergraduate Student Learning Outcomes

For the Undergraduate program, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, our goals are:

Students should know:

  • Basics of liberal arts
  • Basic principles of business disciplines
  • Solve problems in field of expertise
  • Principles of sustainability

Students should be able to do:

  • Demonstrate an ability to use technology in business
  • Effective Communication
  • Collaboration in diverse groups in business-like settings
  • Basic analytical and quantitative techniques used in business.

Students should acquire these values:

  • Effective decision making with ethical considerations

Graduate Student Learning Outcomes

For the Graduate programs, our goals are:

Students should know:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of leadership in organizational situations.
  • Demonstrate an ability to apply knowledge in new and unfamiliar circumstances through a conceptual understanding of relevant disciplines and requirements for sustainability.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the need to adapt and innovate to solve problems, to cope with unforeseen events, and to manage in unpredictable environments.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the need for adaptation to global business.

Students should be able to do:

  • Demonstrate an ability to use technology in business
  • Effective Communication
  • Collaboration in diverse groups in business-like settings
