HCB Business Incubator GHABIT is co-hosting "Ghaby's Organic Garden", a free event for children of all ages. Kids Zone: Ghaby, the green penguin, from planet Ghabit will be visiting to share her green stories. Perfect way to jumpstart your own organic garden and start eating healthy. Lots of fun and educative activities are planned for parents and kids to participate in – from Storytelling, Making heart seed planters, Yoga, Dancing, Painting and more. Summer 2013 - Turner School of Construction Management Program (TSCM) seven-week training course for minority- and women-business owners in the disciplines practiced in the construction industry. This program is uniquely designed to enhance the technical, administrative and managerial skills of minority and women business owners and students in order to make a profit and build a reputation for efficiently managing construction projects. 

The Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate is proud to be hosting the U.S. Green Building Council-Illinois for a two-part program on developing, leasing and operating buildings according to the latest and best sustainability practices – and understanding the business benefits. Both events will occur on June 5th, in the new LEED GOLD Wabash Building of Roosevelt University. Roosevelt University students and faculty register free by contacting Latosha McKinney.

June 16-19 is the 2013 SHRM Annual Conference and Exposition in Chicago.

The Chicago City Treasurer’s Office launched of the 2013 Business Plan Competition. The competition is open to start-up and existing small businesses throughout the city. Submit a two-page executive summary and you are automatically entered to win a share of $10,000. The executive summary is due July 8. Finalists go on to submit a business plan by August 26. Or just sign up for the Business Plan Writing Workshops.

The Walter E. Heller College of Business is again offering opportunities for incoming high school juniors and seniors who demonstrate an aptitude in the areas of math, science and technology along with an interest in entrepreneurship: a five-day, green-technology focused Entrepreneurship Academy

The Heller College of Business and the Franklin Publishing Company  are co-sponsoring a conference at our Schaumburg Campus on Saturday, September 21, 2013. Papers in all of the functional areas of business or administration including nonprofit are sought. Click here for Call for Papers.

 Professor Tom Head addresses 2013 Heller Signature Luncheon The 2013 Heller Signature Luncheon was held at the Palmer House on May 13, 2013. Heller College of Business Professor of Management Tom Head was honored for his achievements in teaching and research. Keynote speaker Jan Fields, Business Leader and Former President, McDonald's, USA spoke on "Diversity at McDonald's and Why It Built Strength and Longevity". Click here for more photos.

 Jon DeVries and D. Bradford Hunt Launch Book: Planning Chicago Jon DeVries, Director of the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate at Roosevelt University, and D. Bradford Hunt, Associate Professor of Social Science & History, have co-authored the book Planning Chicago. The book had a launch mid-April at the American Planning Association national convention being held here in Chicago with a book signing event and a presentation session. Crain's Chicago Business writer Greg Hinz comments on the book in his April 29 article What is Chicago Planning? Not Nearly Enough

 Spring 2013 Delta Mu Delta Induction Congratulations to our Outstanding Students! April 17, the Heller College of Business recognized many of our outstanding students: ACBSP Undergraduate Leadership award was given to Erdenechimeg Naidansambuu. And the ACBSP Graduate Leadership award was given to Gordan Ravasi. Awards for Outstanding Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior were presented to Florencio Vera, Weston Lee, Erin McCaslin and Nicole Farr respectively. The Fall 2012 Dean's List students were recognized as well. Thirty one students were inducted into the Delta Mu Delta Business Honor Society. Click here for more photos.

 Richard Killian and Patrick Woods at Bookstore Dedication April 16 was the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Richard M. Killian Bookstore at the Chicago campus. Board member Patrick Woods and Heller College of Business (Bennett Real Estate Institute) alumnus Richard Killian are pictured here at the dedication.


Congratulations to RU MBA candidate Chevonne Woodard Finalist for the Presidential Management Fellows Program. Chevonne will now go on to a virtual job fair with federal agencies and leadership training. 

 HEEF Case Competition Winners April 2013 Congratulations to Roosevelt's Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate, winners (beating out Michigan, DePaul, Indiana University Kelley School and Penn State!) of the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation sponsored the HEEF Case Competition in which real estate schools are challenged to create a complete development plan for a selected site. eNews Park Forest published this article.  HCB Students Take International Experience Course in Paris over 2013 Spring Break The Heller College of Business organized an International Experience trip to Paris over the 2013 Spring Break. The course is designed to help students appreciate global issues and to better understand cross-cultural challenges. This experience included participation in classes, company tours and interaction with students and the faculty of the host university: La Sorbonne. Click here for more photos.

 Dean Friel interviewed at Studyrama in Paris - Youtube video During summer break, Dean Terri Friel represented Roosevelt University and the Heller College of Business at college recruiting fairs in Lisbon, Istanbul and Paris.  Sorbonne students visit to Motorola Students from the Sorbonne University in Paris visited Roosevelt University March, 2013 and attended an International Management course at Motorola Solutions. See Motorola's article about the visit. Click here for more photos.  


 Teen Entrepreneurship Presentations The Heller College of Business sponsored the Teen Entrepreurship Academy, an opportunity for incoming high school juniors and seniors who demonstrate an aptitude in the areas of math, science and technology along with an interest in entrepreneurship. Selected students attended the five-day, green-technology focused Entrepreneurship Academy at Roosevelt University at one of the  July 15 - 20, 2012 or July 29 – August 3, 2012 sessions.
