The Heller College of Business is excited to announce its partnership with the Community Based Business Initiative and the City of Chicago’s Neighborhood Business Development Center Program. The partnership is funded by a grant from the city of Chicago to increase the capacity of business incubators located in low to moderate income communities to provide services for start-up businesses of residents that will establish businesses within those communities. The goal of the initiative is to support entrepreneurs with access to resources, training, mentorship and networking opportunities that will support their businesses located within the North Lawndale, Greater Roseland, and Austin communities.

Heller students who reside in these community areas and meet the income criteria are invited to participate in this program. Please contact Deidra Somerville at or (312) 341-2449 to begin the process.

 Heller Signature Luncheon The Heller College of Business hosted the Heller Signature Luncheon May 8, 2014 at the Palmer House in Chicago. Longtime Marketing Professor and Department Chairman Dr. Paul Wellen was recognized for his contributions to the college with a Lifetime Achievement Award. And featured keynote speaker Adam Braun shared his insights on “Blending Nonprofit Idealism with For-Profit Business Principles”. Braun, a former hedge fund manager, is the founder and CEO of a non-profit organization Pencils of Promise that builds schools and increases access to education for children in the developing world.


 Delta Mu Delta and Awards Recipients Spring 2014 March 26, 2014, the Heller College of Business recognized our outstanding students at the Delta Mu Delta induction ceremony and Achievement Awards ceremony. The ACBSP Undergraduate Leadership award was given to Guadalupue Cotto. And the ACBSP Graduate Leadership award was given to Safu Shrestha. Awards for Outstanding Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior students were presented to Alexa Tapias, Florencio Vera, Brandon Duchon, and Katrine Loris respectively. Awards for Outstanding HRM, Marketing, Finance, and Accounting students were presented to Megan Mueller, Erin McCaslin, Katrine Loris, and Safu Shrestha respectively. The Fall 2013 Dean's List students were recognized as well. Thirty one students were inducted into the Delta Mu Delta Business Honor Society.


 MGMT 454 International Experience Spring 2014 The MGMT 454 International Experience course took five enthusiastic students and two faculty members to Madrid, Spain over spring break for an experience of a lifetime. 


 ACBSP Accreditation Logo PRESS RELEASE The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) has reaffirmed accreditation of Roosevelt University’s Walter E. Heller College of Business for another 10 years. “Roosevelt University has shown its commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process... This accreditation is evidence that Roosevelt University is committed to providing the highest quality business education for its students for the next 10 years, just has it has done for the last 10 years.”
 Delta Mu Delta and Awards Ceremony Fall 2013 November 14, 2013, the Heller College of Business recognized our outstanding students at the Delta Mu Delta induction ceremony and Achievement Awards ceremony. ACBSP Undergraduate Leadership award was given to Dawn Dalke. And the ACBSP Graduate Leadership award was given to Michael Mago. Awards for Outstanding Junior, Senior, Accounting, HRM, and Management students were presented to Mark Gagliano, Stephanie Smrz, Agnieszka Rudnik, Melissa Sengenberger and Dawn Dalke respectively. The Spring 2013 Dean's List students were recognized as well. Thirty one students were inducted into the Delta Mu Delta Business Honor Society.


 Erin McCaslin - student laureate as well as athlete October 9, 2013, Heller College of Business student Erin McCaslin was named the Student Laureate for Roosevelt University in 2013. Honored students will receive the Lincoln Academy Student Laureate Medallion, a certificate of achievement, and $500. The laureates will be celebrated at a luncheon in Springfield on November 2nd, and Governor Pat Quinn will present their awards.
Finance Trading Room classroom - CCCF Ribbon Cutting

October 7, 2013, the Heller College of Business held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Finance Trading Room classroom on our Wabash Building 12th floor. Many thanks go to the Clearing Corporation Charitable Foundation for their generous gift of $200K to support the trading room complete with electronic ticker tape and Bloomberg terminals.


Cotto Roosevelt University business student Guadalupe Cotto was awarded the $3,000 Adelante MillerCoors National Scholarship and will be attending the Adelante Annual Leadership Institute Conference on Oct. 19-21 in San Antonio, Texas
 Business Conference September 2013

Roosevelt University’s Heller College of Business and the Franklin Publishing Company (FPC) co-sponsored a Business Conference Saturday, September 21, 2013. Papers on any of the functional areas of business or administration were considered and there was a special conference track with the topic Organizations in Crisis. In March of 2014, a special issue of the Leadership and Organizational Management Journal will be devoted to Organizations in Crisis.

 Professor Tom Head addresses 2013 Heller Signature Luncheon

The 2013 Heller Signature Luncheon was held at the Palmer House on May 13, 2013. Heller College of Business Professor of Management Tom Head was honored for his achievements in teaching and research. Keynote speaker Jan Fields, Business Leader and Former President, McDonald's, USA spoke on "Diversity at McDonald's and Why It Built Strength and Longevity".
