Patricia Pilawski, a Roosevelt paralegal program graduate and the Personnel Manager at Perkins Coie LLP - Chicago will conduct a presentation that will help you perform your best at an interview. Tips on preparing for an interview, answering the interviewer’s questions, asking the right questions during the interview and conducting a proper follow-up will all be covered. Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a mock interview at the conclusion of the presentation.

We’ll meet in the picnic table area on the east side of Cloud Gate – aka the “Bean” (near Michigan Avenue at Madison). We’ll be at the south end of the row of tables. Come anytime between 12:00 and 2:00 and look for Roosevelt signs and green balloons. Bring your lunch and join us in this beautiful, relaxed setting for an opportunity to network with fellow graduates.

The Paralegal Studies Program is pleased to announce its Summer 2014 CLE Seminar

Relativity is a nationally recognized litigation support software program that has established a strong foothold in the Chicago area legal community. This course will present paralegals with an overview of Relativity, a web-based, feature-rich e-discovery platform. Students will have a workbook and exercises which will demonstrate how Relativity provides complete processing capabilities, image and native file review, diverse coding, searching, and tracking options, and flexible workflow capabilities in the discovery process of litigation.

The RUPSAG had a great time at its panel last week. 

Everyone had a great time,  the panelists were great, and the event was very informative. The panelists included:

  • Chanita Britton (2001), Panel Moderator.  Assistant Director, Roosevelt University Paralegal Studies Program. Ms. Britton has been in her position at Roosevelt University for six years.
  • Caitlin Cakora (2013), Paralegal, Pokorny & Marks, L.L.C., a private law firm which employs seven  people including five attorneys, one paralegal and a receptionist. Ms. Cakora has been in her position for one year and one month.
  • Valerie Kontos (2013), Corporate Paralegal, Global, Brass & Copper Holdings, Inc., a corporation located in Schaumburg, Illinois. Global, Brass & Copper Holdings, Inc. is a leading, value-added converter, fabricator, distributor and processor of specialized copper and brass products in North America. Ms. Kontos has been in her current position for over one year.  
  • Helene Minaglia (1983), Administrative Assistant to the Assistant General Counsel in Legal Administration & Operations for Exelon Corporation, which has 26,000 employees. Ms. Minaglia began working at Exelon in April 2013 as a Contract Corporate Paralegal. She was offered her current position in October 2013.
  • Diane Poulos (2007), Litigation Paralegal, Synergy Law Group, L.L.C, a firm which employs 15 people, four of whom are dedicated to litigation. Ms. Poulos has been in this position for just over three years.
  • Trice Turner (2007), Paralegal Administrator / Docket Manager, Mandell Menkes LLC, a boutique law firm with ten attorneys. Ms. Turner has been in her current position a little over five years.
  • Andrew Zasuwa (2007) Associate Attorney -Workers' Compensation, The Chicago Transit Authority.  The CTA has 9,377 employees. Mr. Zasuwa has been in his current position just under two years.
