Roosevelt University has a long history of serving veterans. The Veterans Assistance Program is proud to serve prospective and current students of all levels who are serving or have served in the US Military or reserve branches.
We are able to assist veterans as well as their dependents with questions as they relate to:
- Applying for admission or readmission to Roosevelt
- Understanding your veteran educational benefits and financial aid
- Connecting veterans with a variety of on and off campus resources
- College readiness and academic opportunities
Admission
If you are interested in applying to Roosevelt University as a freshman, transfer or graduate student, visit the Office of Admission page. There is information on the application process and documents required for admission. You can also find information on upcoming prospective student events.
Veteran education benefits should be reviewed and applied for far in advance of an academic start term. You do not need to be admitted to Roosevelt to start the process but to receive your education benefits you will need copies of your DD214 and have submitted the Veterans Online Application. To learn more about your benefits visit the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Veteran Benefits
There are a variety of educational benefits* that can be used at Roosevelt including:
*Students are unable to use the ING, IVG, MIA/POW awards at Roosevelt.
**The Yellow Ribbon program is a voluntary agreement between Roosevelt and the VA. Veterans who qualify for the maximum benefit rate can have additional funds contributed to their cost of attendance. The amount that Roosevelt has agreed to contribute is $2,500 for undergraduates and $1,500 for graduates. We encourage you to contact the Director of the Veterans Assistance Program or the Veterans Certifying Official for more details.
Applying for financial aid can assist veterans in closing the financial gap between veteran benefits and cost of attendance. We strongly encourage students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid which is an application for state and federal funding. Roosevelt’s school code is 001749. There are also a variety of private scholarships that veterans may qualify for. Questions about financial aid, check out Financial Aid TV.
There is a time limit for benefit eligibility. To learn more and view eligibility timelines visit the veterans benefits timetable. Students should be aware of their cost of attendance and out-of-pocket expenses. By utilizing the net price calculator you will have a better understanding of your estimated costs.
