Graduate Scholarship and Assistantship Application

Roosevelt University offers many scholarship opportunities, some of which are available to international students. The majority of scholarships are based on academic merit, not on financial need.  International students are considered to be non-immigrants and non-permanent residents; therefore, international students are not eligible for U.S. federal or state financial aid.  You may also wish to apply for graduate assistantships.  Click here to view more information

Additional Documentation

In addition to submitting the application, international students should submit the following:

  • US$25 Application Fee

  • Official Transcripts from all U.S. Colleges and Universities

If you have completed study at a U.S. college or university you must submit official transcripts from all institutions attended.  Official transcripts must be mailed directly from your university or college to Roosevelt University or you may submit them in an envelope sealed and signed by the registrar.

  • Evaluation of Foreign Transcripts

All foreign transcripts must be evaluated at your own expense by a credentials evaluation service.  Roosevelt will accept a course-by-course or detailed evaluation report from any one of the following agencies:

Some degrees require additional applicator material. Please check your intended major for deadline exceptions and additional application requirements.

  • Proof of English Proficiency

You must submit an official TOEFL or IELTS test score to show your English proficiency.

TOEFL Exam - Please have official scores sent directly to Roosevelt by ETS.  Roosevelt’s school code is 1666.  A minimum score of 80 (iBT) or 550 (paper based TOEFL); some departments require a minimum score of 17 or higher on the writing section of the TOEFL.

IELTS Exam  - Please have official scores sent directly to Roosevelt by the British Council.  The minimum on the Academic IELTS test is 6.5; some departments require a minimum score of 6.0 or higher on the writing band score.

English Language Program: 

  • Applicants with a TOEFL (iBT) score of at least 40 or an IELTS score of at least 3.5 may still be admitted. Once admitted, they will be required to take 1-3 semesters of English language classes before they start taking their major classes.

TOEFL/IELTS Exemptions:  The TOEFL or IELTS may be waived for the following reasons.

  • Student has completed a Bachelor’s degree at an accredited North American college or university in which English is the language of instruction.
  • Financial Documentation

Applicants who need an I-20 Form to apply for a F-1 student visa or to maintain their current F-1 status are required to show proof of funding to cover at least one year of Tuition, Fees and Living Expenses by providing a completed and signed Affidavit of Support Form with a copy of bank statement/letter. 

  • Transfer Form

F-1 Students transferring from another U.S. school must submit the Transfer Verification Form.
