Graduate Admission Requirements

College of Arts and Sciences


The College of Arts and Sciences offers master's degrees within biology, biotechnology and chemical science, computer science, creative writing, economics, history, integrated marketing communications, journalism, mathematics, psychology (clinical psychology, counseling practice, industrial/organizational psychology), public administration, and sociology. The college also offers two doctoral degrees: PsyD: Clincal Psychology, PhD: Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
   

Admittance into a graduate program within the College of Arts and Sciences requires the successful completion of a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. The college recommends that all applications have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale at the undergraduate level.*

Mathematics

Public Administration

  • Two-page essay to address the following: “Are there differences between public sector (including non-profit) administration and private sector administration?” Applicants must explain how they arrived at their answer(s), including specific examples of differences and similarities.
  • *Applicants with a cumulative GPA lower than 3.0 should submit a resume/curriculum vitae to include record of community activism and two letters of recommendation. Also, provide a letter of intent discussing your interest in public administration and your personal/professional goals.  

Clinical Psychology, MA

Interviews are by invitation only and are required. Invited applicants will attend one of two interview days. 

Industrial/Organizational Psychology, MA

  • Undergraduate Prerequisites: Minimum of 18 credit hours of psychology coursework to include general psychology, introductory statistics, research methods, and one advanced level course.
  • Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) - General Test (Verbal, Quantitative, Analytical Writing)

Doctorate of Philosophy: Industrial/Organizational Psychology
