Chamber Music Audition Requirements

All applicants to the Chamber Music program must complete individual applications to Roosevelt University and create individual Decision Desk profiles.

Each quartet must also create a group profile in Decision Desk, where they must indicate the name of their group and the individuals therein, upload a letter of recommendation that speaks about the quartet as a whole, and submit any required video files.

Quartets invited for a live audition must present the following:

1. a movement from a Haydn Quartet

2. a movement of a Romantic Quartet by Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, Smetana, or Dvorak

3. A movement of a post 1960 work

The audition process will include an interview with the audition panel and individual auditions by each member of the quartet for private study at RU (individual audition requirements can be found here).

Invitation to the program will be extended to a group subject to the following criteria:

  • Artistic excellence
  • Potential for professional viability
  • Oral communication skills
  • Professionalism and seriousness of purpose
  • Admittance to a CCPA private studio by each member of the quartet

No more than one group will be selected at a time and if, in the judgment of the audition panel, no viable group is identified in any one year, none will be selected.
