Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) provides conservatory style training in Music and Theatre in one of the world's best cities for the arts. All students who study at CCPA are admitted based on the potential talent demonstrated at their audition. Our students come from across the country and around the world, creating a diverse and talented student body.
Application Procedures
Our admissions process is different from a traditional college admissions process in that the audition plays a central role in determining a student's admissibility to the college. While grades and test scores are considered, it is the talent demonstrated in the audition that is the primary component in both the admission and scholarship process.
While there are some procedural differences between the Music Conservatory and the Theatre Conservatory, the overall process is the same:
-
Students are only able to apply online. Start with Roosevelt's Online Application
-
At the end of the online application, students are directed to a reference page containing information on scheduling auditions, a downloadable checklist to track their documents, and recorded audition information. Students should BOOKMARK AND SAVE this webpage to refer back to throughout the admission process.
-
After submitting the application and audition request, the student must make sure all supplemental materials are submitted to Roosevelt University/CCPA Enrollment by their audition date. Students may not bring supplemental materials to their audition; they must be sent to our offices beforehand.
-
Auditions will take place starting in December and continuing through the first weekend of March. All Theatre students must audition in person at either the Chicago Campus or at the Unified Theatre auditions. All Music students must audition in person unless they live more than 500 miles away from Chicago, in which case recordings may be submitted. All recordings must be submitted online through CCPA’s Citizen Groove interface, which may be accessed at the end of the application. It is in the student's best interest to make sure the recordings are of the highest sound quality.
-
All students who wish to be considered for scholarships should make sure their files are complete by March 1, 2012. This includes filing the FAFSA (if applicable), as well as submitting all transcripts, test scores, and letters of recommendation. Students with incomplete files will not be considered for scholarship until their files are complete. This may result in the student not receiving any scholarship at all.
-
Students will receive an admission decision by April 1, 2012. Students who attend the early Action Auditions on December 1 will know their decision by December 31, 2011. Students will only receive an admission decision letter from CCPA – acceptance to Roosevelt University is not a separate process.
-
Students will receive a decision about any talent scholarships by April 1, 2012. Not all students will receive scholarships – however, all students will be considered. Students who wish to appeal their scholarship decision must do so by submitting the Scholarship Appeal Form no later than May 1, 2012. This form will be available April 1, 2012 for download on this website.
-
Students must contact the CCPA Enrollment office (by using the online admission acceptance form sent via email) by 11:59 pm on May 1, 2012 to secure their place in the class. All offers of admission and scholarship expire at 11:59 p.m. on May 1, 2012. The CCPA enrollment office assumes that all students who have not replied by the deadline are declining the offer of admission and are forfeiting their scholarship.
-
Students need to be on Campus on August 20, 2012 for CCPA Kick off week. This enables all CCPA students to get into the dorms early as well and audition and take placement exams.
The CCPA Enrollment and Student Services Staff looks forward to helping you with this important process.
