Roosevelt University prides itself on inclusiveness. Everyone is welcome here who wants to study here and be part of this community. We have always been inclusive -- have always included those individuals and groups of individuals who, for one reason or another, were marginalized or excluded from mainstream society. One of those groups is the LGBT community.
As many of you know, there is a national video phenomenon called "It Gets Better." This internet-based movement, precipitated by an alarming rise in LGBT youth suicides, addressed the struggles that LGBT youth deal with on a daily basis and confirms that life does indeed get better over time.
I want to share with you this video, introduced by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and featuring other prominent Chicagoans, who each talk about everyone's right an opportunity to pursue the American dream and live the American promise.
n this It Gets Better tribute, prominent members of Chicago's LGBT community come together to share stories and hope. Presented by Tribeca Flashpoint Academy, Chicago.
