Residence Life

"Students living on campus generally do better in their classes, are more engaged in University activities, and are more likely to finish their degrees than students living off-campus."
-- (Pascarella & Terenzini, 1991)

It’s true. Students living in residential housing get more out of their education. That’s why Roosevelt requires every first-year student enrolled full-time at our Chicago Campus to live in University housing for their first two years, adding an exciting dimension to our students’ higher learning experience. We offer furnished, dormitory- and apartment-style housing to over 800 students in the University Center and Roosevelt on Washington.

At Residence Life, our program administrators and staff of student Resident Assistants support Roosevelt’s community of individuals as they pursue their degrees. We believe living on campus promotes student success through its near-constant exposure to mentors, colleagues and peers, as well as its breadth of academic, cultural, professional and civic opportunities. By forging these essential connections within Roosevelt’s diverse student population and taking full advantage of the University’s numerous resources, residents can truly absorb the rich community atmosphere and its rigorous, intellectual challenges.

The 2011-2012 Housing Application/Contract is NOW available online through RU Access. Students will need their RU ID number to gain access to the housing application/contract and will be asked to submit their $500 housing pre-payment with their application/contract. Housing charges will be placed on students' accounts in early summer and housing room and roommate assignments will be sent out via email in the summer. Housing room types, roommate requests and lifestyle preferences are not guaranteed but we will do our best to accommodate requests.

Please remember that students who submit their housing application/contract by May 1 are guaranteed a space on campus and if students have changed their minds and decide to cancel, June 1 is the deadline to do so and receive a refund of their $500 pre-payment.  Pre-payments are not refundable after June 1.
